Police in the South Pacific are investigating how a yacht carrying a decomposed body and £78m worth of cocaine washed up on a deserted tropical island. Australian detectives said international law agencies had been monitoring the 13m (42ft) vessel, called JeReVe, from when it left South America until they lost contact with it last month. "Also located on board that vessel were 204, 1kg (2.2lb) blocks of cocaine destined for the Australian market," acting national manager for serious and organised crime David Sharpe told a news conference. The yacht, which Tongan authorities were unable to search initially because of difficult tidal conditions and its remote location, was eventually found to be carrying the drugs in its hull. Police and customs officials launched an investigation in August after being alerted that a vessel was en route from Ecuador to Australia. They formed a special group with US authorities to examine vulnerabilities in the South Pacific being exploited by international organised crime syndicates. "Vessels transiting through the Pacific into Australia have been identified as a high-risk area of drug smuggling," Mr Sharpe said. In late 2010, Australian police said they had arrested four men in Sydney over a plot to smuggle almost 700kg (1,540lb) of cocaine into the country via Tonga.

One of the greatest open boat journeys in maritime history For over 20 years, Don had dreamt of recreating William Bligh's epic voyage of survival, with 18 of his crew, once cast adrift during the Mutiny on the "HMS Bounty" in 1789. Bligh sailed that open long boat ,nearly 4000 miles, over 48 days from Tofua, in the Kingdom of Tonga, all the way to Kupang in West Timor. It is considered one of the greatest open boat journeys in maritime history. While Building "ICE" his new 15.2mtr expedition vessel in China, Don decided it was now or never. Three years of planning and preparation saw him ready to set sail on April 28th 2010, with a crew of three. The "Talisker Bounty Boat" was a 7.3meter open whale boat, loaded to just 40cm of freeboard. It would be an attempt not to be historically correct, but simply to try getting close to Bligh and his men. They too would live with only the things Bligh had in his boat, no toilet paper, no charts, a tiny amount of food and only two weeks of water. Many people thought they would not survive! Don and his crew faced certain death on one occasion and were capsized four times filling the boat with water. They did survive, arriving in Kupang just three hours after Bligh. Don lost 18kg through starvation rations on the voyage and suffered kidney stones that he said at the time made him more scared than he has ever been in his life! It was during the one month of final preparations in Tonga for this voyage, that Don heard "roomers" about the many wrecks supposedly in Tonga!

I promise you beautiful scenery and all the things that go right and wrong by living on sailing boats as a crew member! By creating these VLOGS I hope to put a smile on your face!

From Pyramid vessels, to the eerie German U-Boat, these are 10 UNBELIEVABLE Ship Discoveries ! Subscribe to American Eye http://goo.gl/GBphkv 6. Mongol Kamikaze Ship When the Mongol hordes boarded ships and attempted to sail across the sea of Japan in order to invade the Japanese, they were struck down by a severe storm. The Japanese believed the gods were on their side and called them “divine winds”. This is the original meaning for the word Kamikaze. This storm could have potentially saved the entire country of Japan from all out destruction. Archaeologists believe they may have uncovered some of the remains of the fleet Kublai Khan, the grandson of Genghis Khan used in his attempted invasion. With 4000 ships and 140,000 men, you’d believe that it should be possible to come across some of the wreckage. 5. Pirate Shipwreck, Tonga A shipwreck near the Pacific country of Tonga was discovered in 2012 and underwater archaeologists believe it could possibly be the ruins of the famous pirate vessel known as the Port Au Prince. This ship was originally French but was captured by the British and made into a pirate boat, looting boats belonging to rival countries such as Spain and France. Here in this photo, you see an illustration of the similar style the Port-Au-Prince would have had. This boat was made famous for destroying some Spanish settlements in Peru as well as their ships. Some believe the boat was destroyed by Tongan natives and used the metal from the ship to make weapons. If the Tongans did take control of the ship, they would have certainly massacred any British sailors on site. 4. Queen Anne’s Revenge The infamous Blackbeard’s pirate ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge, was discovered on a sandbar near Beaufort, North Carolina and is possibly the best pirate ship discovery of all time! Blackbeard and his crew terrorized anyone they came into contact with and plundered many ships, villages in the early 1700’s. This was a former slave ship used by the French, to help colonize the Caribbean. Blackbeard struck fear into the hearts of many with his gruesome flag. One cannon you see in this photo, weighed an astonishing 3000 pounds. This would have fired devastating 6 pound cannon balls and would have ripped enemy boats to shreds. Some other artifacts archaeologists came across include gold dust, coins, glass beads, and 22 cannons and some 280,000 artifacts were uncovered! This anchor they lifted off the sea bed weighs nearly 3,000 pounds! Blackbeard met davy jones locker in a gruesome fashion when the British Navy finally captured him. It’s believed that Blackbeard’s severed head was left to hang from the bow of Lieutenant Robert Maynard’s Ship. 3. Antikythera Shipwreck Off the coast of the Greek Island of Antikythera, a massive storm 2000 years ago caused a large ship to sink. On board were many luxurious items including fine glassware, massive statues, and the most notable item, a complex geared device many believe to be the world’s first computer. This ship and it’s wreckage was discovered by Greek sponge divers in the year 1900 but they seem to keep on finding new things here! Just recently in September 2016, fragments of a human skeleton were found. Buried beneath shards of ancient pottery, they came across this piece of a jaw bone which included 3 teeth. They also found this piece of cranial bone in the Aegean sea. This is the first time researchers came across bones at the site and they're hoping with DNA testing, they can learn more about the crew that was on board this historic ship. 2. German U-boat The German U-boat submarines were certainly a force to be reckoned with during World War II and they wreaked havoc among merchant ships. But how close were the Nazi from the American mainland? Recently, a Nazi U-boat was uncovered only 30 miles off the coast of North Carolina! Maybe we weren’t as safe on our home soil as we might have thought. Many American’s picture the fronts of World War II all the way in Europe or on the other side of the Pacific. This tends to prove otherwise, considering how close it was to us. This vessel was believed to have been shot down in battle with the 44 sailors still entombed inside. This discovery was made using sonar and you can still even see the propeller at the back is still intact! 1.Titanic Discovered A group of American and French researchers finally found the remains of the infamous Titanic in the Northern Atlantic, south of Newfoundland. With help from undersea robotics, the team was able to verify that the ship was truly the Titanic, which struck an iceberg over a century ago. The ship was supposed to be unsinkable but tragedy struck and more than 1500 people lost their lives. The ship is located 12,500 feet below the surface of the ocean which is about 2.4 miles! So getting down here was certainly no easy task. New ghostly images were released and tell the true story of the legendary catastrophe.
