Police in the South Pacific are investigating how a yacht carrying a decomposed body and £78m worth of cocaine washed up on a deserted tropical island. Australian detectives said international law agencies had been monitoring the 13m (42ft) vessel, called JeReVe, from when it left South America until they lost contact with it last month. Two divers discovered the boat off Tonga's Vava'u island group and found a man's body when they went on board. "Also located on board that vessel were 204, 1kg (2.2lb) blocks of cocaine destined for the Australian market," acting national manager for serious and organised crime David Sharpe told a news conference. The yacht, which Tongan authorities were unable to search initially because of difficult tidal conditions and its remote location, was event...

TONGA, the Pyramids (Langi) & Royal Tombs of Lapaha: Here are the most important pyramids (langi, or, royal tombs) located in the ancient capital of Tonga, Lapaha. The ones that you see here were built after 1200AD(!) and even though they are neglected, they are magnificent nevertheless. Vic Stefanu, email@example.com. Tonga, officially the Kingdom of Tonga, is a Polynesian sovereign state and archipelago comprising 169 islands of which 36 are inhabited. One of the greatest open boat journeys in maritime history For over 20 years, Don had dreamt of recreating William Bligh's epic voyage of survival, with 18 of his crew, once cast adrift during the Mutiny on the "HMS Bounty" in 1789. Bligh sailed that open long boat ,nearly 4000 miles, over 48 days from Tofua, in the Kingdom of Tonga, all the way to Kupang in West Timor. It is considered one of the greatest open boat journeys in maritime history. While Building "ICE" his new 15.2mtr expedition vessel in China, Don decided it was now or never. Three years of planning and preparation saw him ready to set sail on April 28th 2010, with a crew of three. The "Talisker Bounty Boat" was a 7.3meter open whale boat, loaded to just 40cm of freeboard. It would be an attempt not to be historically corr...
TONGA, the Trilithon, the STONEHENGE of the Pacific OCEAN: Here's one of the Pacific Ocean's most intriguing sites, the Haʻamonga which had an astronomical significance telling the position of sunrise at solstices and equinoxes. Let's walk around it on a very stormy day and let's enjoy its architecture. Vic Stefanu, firstname.lastname@example.org. After a few days in Tonga’s main town of Neiafu, provisioning, learning about local traditions and folklore, we were ready to explore the seemingly endless gems of the islands nearby. For the next week we swam with whales, spearfished octopus, kayaked in Tongan royal caves and tried making our own soundtrack! Rebellious Fijian Colonel Mara was rescued in a covert operation by the VOEA Savea patrol boat, part of the Tongan Navy fleet of patrol boats. The boat is armed with 7.62 mm machine guns, and 12.7 mm machine gun. Mara is now under the protection of the Tongan Royal Family. Fiji Lieutenant Colonel Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara had been accused of sedition and being part of a plot to overthrow the military dictatorship of Voreqe Bainimarama. Like most natives of Lau Group in Fiji, Mara has strong links afamily ties to Tonga. Fiji has since issued a warrant for Mara's arrest. May 2011

The interview went into my Wildlife Man film " Swimming with Whales" Wildlife Man Films are available for purchase from : www.wildlifeman.myshopify.com
Pleas subscribe and rate...thank you!!!/ Here's a classic video of the only boat that has ever beaten the two boats ( Tui Vavau & Tui Ha'apai) from the kingdom of tonga. The 22 yr old. boat~AETO from Pago Pago led by capt. Leala Reid. The tongans had ruled both upolu and tutuila seas "faigamea i le tai" races in the late 80's until this day. The aeto which was built in 1987 recaptured the glory and restored the honor of the fautasi superiority that truly belonged to the people of American Samoa. The historic aeto fautasi had achieved many victories during its past primes until it was retired Sept. 19, 2009 by the tsunami forever. I had been in this game for 10 yrs since I was in Junior High in 2001, and I will never forget my first and only win in 2004 when we took 1st and 2nd place (Aeto ...
We departed from the Tonga Fua-amotu (TBU) Domestic Airport on the main island of Tongatapu in the Kingdom of Tonga and flew up to the Lupepau'u Airport located in northern group of islands in Vava'u. This video is our approach and landing in Vava'u at the International airport. You can see the capital of Neiafu as we fly over (where all the boats are.) The airport is located in the northern section of the island just above the town of Leimatu'a.
